Vilamoura is an unincorporated area on the southern coast of Portugal, comprising one of the largest single tourist complexes in Europe and with about 2,000 hectares of land. The nearest airport is in Faro. It comprises one of the three corners of what is today known as Algarve’s Golden Triangle.

The beach in Vilamoura is beautiful, very clean and has been awarded the blue flag. It is fantastic for families and watersport enthusiastics alike.
The beach is very sandy (not fine shingle that you find in many European resorts) and stretches for around 10km! The sea here is lovely and clear and the beach very genlty slopes into the water, which again makes it great for families.
There you can find several shops, bars and restaurants on the beach to cater for your needs during the day.

At the heart of Vilamoura is the marina which has the capacity to berth over 1,000 vessels. The marina is surrounded by large Hotels and Luxury holiday homes as well as a large casino and numerous restaurants and vibrant bars.
At the far corner of the marina, it is possible to charter boats for big game fishing. There are also facilities for jet skiing and parascending. Close by there are also a number of sports clubs, a shooting range and many night clubs.

Eating out in Vilamoura couldn’t be easier – well, the amount of choice could probably make it a little difficult. Vilamoura has every conceivable dining experience, including plenty of Portuguese restaurants.
Here you can very high standard restaurants as well as you can eat really good food for little money.
Vilamoura choices of cuisine in restaurants include Mexican, Sushi, Chinese, plenty of Pizza and Pasta outlets, and a choice of fast food outlets including a Macdonalds and a Subway. On top of this add a huge choice of Snack bars, cafes and pastries and delectable ice cream parlours!
In the Marina you can find many shops from usual tourist shops to many upmarket boutiques (Gant, Lacoste, Hugo Boss, etc) catering for the many rich and famous visitors to Vilamoura.
The Algarve also has 2 large, modern shopping malls – The Forum Algarve in Faro and Algarve Shopping in Guia near Albufeira.
Algarve Shopping is about a 20-minute car journey. More than one hundred shops and a large supermarket occupy two levels.
